Ever consider doing a care package for a college student? Check out how this small investment can have a big impact...as well as some practical ideas for packages below.
"Before our Sticky Faith research, I never would have done this. I should have, but I didn’t. But according to our findings, college students who have contact with their former youth leaders and adults from their home church tend to be students more likely to have Sticky Faith."
This is in the line of something like Paul's letter to the Galatians. As recent converts to Christ that he just recently left, he sent a letter with many encouragements, reminders, and challenges. He remembered them. And they felt being remembered and prayed for in the letter.
Similarly, a care package is a reminder that we have not forgotten them...nor does God.
What can you put in there? Here are some ideas:
- Snack: Throw in a mix of salty and sugar snacks and homemade cookies that they can enjoy as needed.
- Movie: Put a DVD in with some popcorn, theater-sized candy box, etc. This can be a great way to share a good Christian movie too.
- Sports: Send a kite, football , sports jersey, or Frisbee.
- Simple: Put some of your best homemade items in or a favorite treat of that person with a music CD they enjoy.
And then write them a note of blessing or encouragement and a Scripture that might help lift their view in a busy week. Then mail it with blessing and prayer.
Ministry, by the Holy Spirit, moves beyond a single geography or time. No matter how simple or fancy, big or small, it will be a great blessing. Who might God be bringing to mind right now for you to send one to?
