The Outreach team would really like to thank all of you who contributed to Corn Fest 2012 in making this day a “popping” success. Not only was there a great meal (free!) that served many but there were many fun activities and music to enjoy!
A few highlights:
- Can you believe that over 611 guests were fed a delicious free meal in the 2 hours of Corn Fest?
- That the very last ear of corn and pork sandwich were served to the last person in line at exactly 5:00. The loaves and fishes miracle (Mark 6:30-44) in River Falls, Wisconsin.
- 50 Faithful Volunteers ranging in age from 5 to 75; baked hundreds of cookies, prepared pork, roasted and shucked corn, set up tents, tables, chairs, served up the meal, entertained with music, provided a variety of games for children and adults, painted very creative designs on faces, arms and hands, provided crafts, wore a corn suit and stood on the corner to attract more folks, lead children on pony rides, built and painted cutouts to stick your face in, greeted folks and they arrived and left, and then cleaned it all up!
Corn Fest 2012 took place on Saturday, July 14th 3:00-5:00PM. The Outreach Committee is looking towards 2013 with excitement and ways to make it even more fun.
